  • Operator / Chemical Technician / Production Specialist Chemistry – Carbon Black Production (all genders)

    €50,000 - €60,000
    Cologne
    Permanent Position
    Full-Time | 5-Shift Model

    Invisible but indispensable

Our carbon black is not immediately visible, yet it is found almost everywhere—in tires that get you safely to your destination, in the smartphone you hold in your hand every day, in the paint that brings your home to life, and in batteries that supply energy. Without it, modern life would come to a standstill.

But what you will see right away is that we invest in you. In your development, your prospects, and your future. We provide you with the framework you need to grow—professionally, personally, and financially. Your commitment makes a difference to us, and in return you receive more than just appreciation: you receive genuine recognition.

Our production site in Kalscheuren (Cologne) is the beating heart of our operations, running 365 days a year to manufacture a wide range of carbon blacks. Over time, you’ll get to know various workstations. Variety is guaranteed – some areas are hard to access, others are high up, loud, outdoors, wet, dry, hot, or cold – but above all, they are exciting, increasingly sustainable, and designed for the long term.

Before we go into detail: the basics.

    37.5 hours/week | Full-continuous 5-shift model (Shift times: 6:00–1:00 pm, 1:00–9:00 pm, 9:00 pm–6:00 am) | permanent position | Cologne | 31 vacation days | Salary range: €50,000 – €60,000 (according to chemical industry tariff)

The job that fits your ambitions

    • Carbon black production is a multi-stage and diverse process. As a production team member, you’ll play a key role and, after onboarding and further qualification, work in areas such as pelletizing, laboratory, reactor service, furnace black, and control room operations
    • You’ll operate various production lines, adjust process parameters, keep transport and production routes clear, conduct inspections, document key findings, and maintain constant communication with the quality lab to ensure top product quality
    • Over time, your responsibilities will grow in complexity: you’ll brief external personnel, start up and shut down equipment, isolate systems for maintenance and repairs, and coordinate the packaging of powdered carbon blacks into bags and big bags, including palletizing
    • Safety is our top priority: in addition to wearing your personal protective equipment (PPE), you’ll be proactively tasked with maintaining vigilance and adhering to all safety protocols

What you bring to the table

    • To succeed in this role, you’ll need a completed vocational training as a chemical technician, chemical plant operator, or chemical production specialist (m/f/d)
    • We strongly value further development and welcome career changers (m/f/d) with technical training in mechanical engineering, industrial mechanics, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or metalworking
    • You’ll be trained as part of our plant fire brigade and must pass the G26.3 medical examination. During drills and operations, you’ll wear full respiratory protection
    • Most communication with colleagues will be in German
